TradeBench is built on trust — and that starts with how we handle your data. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and what stays private.

The short version

We collect the information you provide to create your business profile, manage your connections, and use the platform. We use that data to match you with trusted opportunities and help you make better partner decisions.

We don't sell your data. We don't show your quotes to other responders. We don't reveal who left your ratings. Your private notes stay private. The platform is designed around restricted visibility — not public exposure.

What we collect

We collect information you provide directly and some technical data automatically when you use TradeBench.

Business information
  • Business name, primary trade, and service area
  • Contact name, phone number, and email address
  • Pitch bio, certifications, and portfolio highlights
Connection and trust data
  • Who you connect with and the relationship type
  • Trust paths between you and other businesses
  • Connection confirmations and collaboration history
Activity data
  • Opportunities you post, quotes you submit
  • Skill ratings you give and receive (stored anonymously)
  • Private notes and tags you create
Technical data
  • Device type, browser, and operating system
  • IP address and general location
  • Pages visited and feature usage patterns

How we use your data

Your data powers the trust layer. Here's specifically how we use it:

  • Match you with relevant opportunities based on trade, location, and trust path
  • Surface trusted connections through 1st and 2nd-degree networks
  • Generate anonymous skill summaries from verified collaborators
  • Track your opportunity pipeline and collaboration history
  • Improve platform features and fix issues
  • Communicate with you about your account and the platform

What we never do

Some things are off the table — no exceptions.

  • Sell your data to third parties
  • Share your private notes or tags with anyone
  • Reveal who left a specific skill rating
  • Show your quotes to other responders
  • Use your data for unrelated advertising
  • Share your contact information without your consent

Privacy is built into the product

TradeBench isn't a public marketplace. Privacy controls are baked into how the platform works — not bolted on after the fact.

Quotes are private

When you submit a quote, only the opportunity owner sees it. Other responders never see your pricing, availability, or crew details.

Ratings are anonymous

Skill ratings come from verified collaborators but the rated business can't see who left them. Scores stay hidden until there are at least 5 reviews.

Notes stay internal

Private notes and tags you add to connections are visible only to you. They're never shared, surfaced, or used in matching.

Discovery is restricted

You can only see businesses connected through trust paths — direct connections or mutual contacts. No open directory, no public profiles.

Your controls

You're in control of your data and how it's used.

Profile visibility

Control what appears on your business profile. Your pitch bio, certifications, and portfolio are optional.

Connection management

You choose who to connect with. Connections require mutual confirmation and can be removed at any time.

Data export

Request a full export of your data at any time. We'll provide it in a standard, readable format.

Account deletion

You can delete your account and all associated data. This is permanent and cannot be undone.

Cookies and third parties

Cookies

We use essential cookies to keep you logged in and remember your preferences. We may use analytics cookies to understand how the platform is used so we can improve it. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies.

Third-party services

We use a small number of trusted services to run the platform — including cloud hosting, email delivery, and analytics. These providers only access data as needed to provide their service and are bound by their own privacy obligations. We don't share your data with any third party for their own marketing or advertising purposes.

Data security

We use industry-standard encryption for data in transit and at rest. Access to your data is restricted to authorized team members who need it to support the platform. We regularly review our security practices and infrastructure.

Data retention

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove your personal data within 30 days. Some anonymized, aggregate data (like platform-wide analytics) may be retained longer since it can't be linked back to you.

Changes to this policy

If we make significant changes to this policy, we'll notify you through the platform or by email before the changes take effect. Minor clarifications or formatting changes won't trigger a notification, but the “last updated” date at the top will always reflect the most recent version.

Canadian privacy law

TradeBench is operated by Powerplay Systems, based in Ontario, Canada. We comply with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial privacy legislation. You have the right to access, correct, and delete your personal information at any time.
